Shapewear in Mondo Kaos

In Mondo Kaos, we also carry a small selection of shapewear. Shapewear can be advantageously used for events where your vintage-style dress must fit perfectly. It gives extra focus on the beautiful hourglass figure, while, for example, a 'waist-nipper' will also support the back for an optimal posture. Shapewear will undoubtedly make, for example, a tight-fitting pencil dress slip up to the body like a dream.

What type of shapewear should I use?

We carry a variety of shapewear from brands such as Maidenform, What Katie Did and Swedish Stockings.

Shapewear skirt/ dress.

For example, we have a shapewear skirt from Maidenform which consists of a bodystocking with a button closure at the bottom, which holds the stomach and shapes the waist. On the outside there is a "skirt" which helps to smooth out. The skirt is cut below the bust so you can use any bra.
The shapewear skirt creates a nice silhouette and is perfect under a tight dress, instead of e.g. a petticoat.

Waist nipper or waist cincher .

We carry these from Maidenform and What Katie Did. As the name says, the focus here is on the slim waist. Regardless of your shape, this will help you focus optimally on the waist. Perfect under dresses with extra focus on the waist and the hourglass shape.

We have both waist-nippers that are pulled on or that close with hooks, depending on what suits you best.

Shape shorts.

From Swedish Stockings we have shape shorts. These shaping shorts have medium support, so they are comfortable while still looking great on the figure. The flat seams mean that you don't see that you are wearing anything under your dress, you just get a leaner and firmer figure.

You can wear these shorts over your tights for comfort or alone under your summer dresses to reduce chafing between your bare thighs. From Swedish Stockings, we also have regular support tights.

When do I use shapewear?

You can use shapewear with medium support for everyday life, such as support tights or shape shorts which have medium support and which can be comfortable in the summer when you have bare legs and want to wear something that relieves chafing between the thighs, but which not visible from the outside.

It is obvious to use shapewear for parties, festive events or if, for example, you need to have photos taken. Not only does shapewear help you get a firmer figure, you also get a leaner posture that will look good no matter what.

For example, use the waist nipper under a beautiful vintage swing dress, and highlight with a belt so that there is really full focus on your waist and the hourglass silhouette. Or if you're going to wear a body-hugging pencil dress, you can use a shapewear skirt or dress to get just the right flattering vintage look.

Shapewear can therefore be just the finishing touch to your vintage look for a special event. It can be just what makes it all work, and makes everything sit just right.
