Mondo Kaos swimwear often arrives in small drops, and popular sizes can quickly sell out. Therefore, we recommend that you sign up if your size is missing.

How do I find the right swimwear size?

Swimwear should fit snugly without being tight. As a general rule, choose the size you normally wear in close-fitting styles. If you are between two sizes, it might be a good idea to choose the larger one, especially if you prefer a bit more comfort or have a longer torso.

Is the swimwear true to size?

Most styles are true to size, but the fit may vary depending on the cut, stretch, and model. Always check the product's size guide and the specific fit description on the page. If a style runs small or large, we will state it on the product page.

Which swimwear style is best for my body type?

The most important thing is to choose a style you feel comfortable in. How do I best care for my swimwear?

Rinse your swimwear in cold water after use, especially after exposure to pool water, saltwater, and sunscreen. Wash it gently, preferably by hand, and let it dry in the shade. Avoid leaving it wet in your bag for extended periods, as this can affect both the material and colors.

Can I return swimwear?

Swimwear can only be returned if it meets our return policy. Please make sure to try it on carefully and keep all tags and hygiene protection intact. Always refer to our return policy if you are in doubt.

Our retro swimsuits and bikinis are all inspired by the vintage style and time from the 1940s , 1950s and 1960s , and especially by the pinup images of this era and glamorous Hollywood stars who were happy to be photographed in the chic 'new' swimwear . It is vintage swimwear where emphasis is placed on a cut that shows the body in the most beautiful way.

We carry both the finest vintage prints such as polka dots and seductive cherry prints, which bring to mind 1940s & 1950s pinup girls, but also more discreet gingham checks and monochrome swimwear in retro and vintage style.

Either way, the swimwear is designed with the small details in mind. There are, for example, small pleats that make the swimsuit or bikini bottom sit flattering and snuggle comfortably up to the woman's body, and there is a good fit and comfortable support for the bust. And then there is a good hold in the material.

Retro & Vintage swimsuit.

The bathing suit as we know it today first appeared around the 1930s. After you had been enveloped in longer suits, with short legs and sleeves, and in impractical fabric, you began to focus on the healthy body, which should preferably also be colored by the sun. Swimwear was now not just for bathing in, but for sunbathing. This called for a change in swimwear and people began to introduce lower cuts, to remove the sleeves and to make a more tight-fitting bathing suit. This could, among other things, be done when new materials such as nylon and latex had been invented.

The Retro & Vintage bikini

Although the first modern two-piece swimsuit had been seen before, it was Louis Réard who ran with attention when he launched the bikini in July 1946, 4 days after the first American nuclear test at Bikini Atoll. The bikini was named after this event as the bikini in Réard's production was small like the 'atom' and fierce like the bomb. Apart from the fact that there was now a two-piece bathing suit, the new thing was that the lower part did not cover the navel.

Esther Williams was the 40's and 50's all-time great bathing nymph icon. She started her career by swimming in a show with Tarzan star Johnny Weissmuller, here she was discovered by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and then she starred in 26 feature films in the 40s and 50s, all focusing on sea and water . She became known as the Million Dollar Mermaid!
