Soft vintage feeling
The statement puff shoulders, elegant shawl collar and dramatic peplum create an irresistible 1940s-inspired look.

The Screen Siren Cardigan is a warm cardigan made from 100% superfine merino wool, featuring a dramatic silhouette inspired by the elegant fashions of the 1940s. This rust-coloured cardigan combines strong puff shoulders, a nipped-in waist and a longer peplum at the back to accentuate a classic hourglass shape.
The warm shawl collar adds a sophisticated touch, while the peplum continues around the front for a beautifully balanced silhouette. Long sleeves with cuffs complete the design. Knitted in a substantial yet exceptionally soft wool yarn, it works beautifully as a blazer during winter or as a light jacket in spring and autumn.
Its timeless design is ideal for the office, combining a professional appearance with warmth and comfort. Pair it with a long skirt for a historically inspired outfit or style it with contemporary trousers and dresses.

Mondo Kaos guide
The statement puff shoulders, elegant shawl collar and dramatic peplum create an irresistible 1940s-inspired look.
The nipped-in waist and longer back enhance the hourglass silhouette, while soft merino wool provides warmth and comfort.
Wear it as a cardigan, blazer or light jacket – perfect for the office, everyday outfits and elegant dinners.
Use knitwear and cardigans as the soft layer over dresses, blouses, jeans or skirts. It adds both warmth and vintage feeling.
Inspired by the simple and functional silhouettes of the 1940s, with clean lines and a feminine everyday feel.
Our vintage-inspired cardigans feature feminine fits and classic details, making them easy to pair with dresses, skirts and high-waisted trousers. The styles are primarily inspired by 1940s and 1950s fashion, when short, fitted cardigans, delicate knit patterns, embroidery and feminine sleeves were characteristic of the era.
We always recommend checking the bust, waist and length measurements of each individual style rather than simply choosing your usual size. Some vintage cardigans have a close, fitted silhouette, while others are designed with a looser cut. The fabric composition also affects how much the cardigan stretches. Choose the retro cardigan that suits your desired look—from a simple everyday cardigan to a short, feminine style worn over a dress or a classic look inspired by the 1940s and 1950s.
Most of our cardigans from brands such as Emmy Design and Weekend Doll are cut at the waist, so they look best with high-waisted trousers and skirts or worn over dresses.
Cardigans from Emmy Design are primarily made from merino wool and should therefore preferably be hand-washed or simply aired, as wool is self-cleaning. If you want a cardigan that can be machine-washed, choose one made from cotton, such as those from Palava.
A cardigan can be a lovely alternative to a jacket worn over a dress when it is fitted and cut at the waist.
Wear your cardigan as a top by buttoning it all the way up to the neck, or wear it open over a top or dress. This gives you a versatile garment that can be styled in several different ways.
