The Bonnie shirt is a great vintage style shirt with beautiful authentic 1940s details.
The shirt has a fine collar that ends in ribbons on both sides, which are passed through a small slit in the front. The buttons down the front are covered by the ribbon, creating a nice maritime detail.
The Bonnie shirt has the classic blousy shape with pleats that emphasize the figure, and a fixed waistband finishes the shirt with just the right vintage look that also highlights the waist.
The shirt is made from Seamstress of Bloomsbury's famous signature fabric, rayon crepe de chine, which has a smooth look with a nice drape.

Rayon crepe is a natural, lightweight and beautiful material, and we recommend that you care for the garment as they did with original 1940s clothing.
We suggest hand washing, just like they did back then. If you want to use the easier option of using a washing machine, it's very important to wash on a gentle cycle and place the garment in a laundry bag. However, we do not recommend washing in a machine as not all machines treat clothes equally well.
Avoid drying clothes in direct sunlight or in very hot places (e.g. over a radiator) as this can cause the material to expand and subsequently shrink.
If the garment has been washed too hot.
In the unlikely event of an accident, you can try the following method to get the garment back to its original size and fit. This method is not guaranteed, but may help in some cases:
- Soak the garment in cold water with a very generous amount of fabric conditioner and leave it overnight.
- Then rinse the garment in fresh cold water and while gently squeezing out the excess water, stretch the garment both width and lengthwise as far as you can.
- Lay the garment flat on a towel to let it dry slowly and keep pulling it in both directions.
