We love outerwear that is both practical and full of character, so it becomes more than just something you wear over your outfit.
Wear it over dresses, jeans, trousers or skirts to make the look feel more complete and personal.
Use the jacket or coat as the layer that ties your outfit together. It works over dresses as well as with jeans, trousers or skirts.
Inspired by the feminine retro look of the 1950s, with a defined waist, soft shapes and styling that works beautifully with shirts, cardigans and pretty accessories.
Are you unsure about size, body shape or how to style your vintage-inspired jacket or coat? Here we have gathered the most important answers about fit, silhouette and vintage-inspired coats and jackets, so you can more easily find the style that suits you best.
A vintage-inspired jacket is a newly produced jacket with cuts and details inspired by historical fashion. At Mondo Kaos, many of our jackets reference especially the 1940s and 1950s, with defined waists, structured shoulders, swing cuts and cropped jacket styles.
No. Our jackets and coats are newly produced and vintage-inspired. This means you get the vintage look combined with modern sizing, materials and comfort.
Jackets in the 1940s were often structured and practical, with defined shoulders, a marked waist and relatively simple details. Tailored wool jackets, cropped jackets and military-inspired cuts were characteristic of the decade.
Coats from the 1950s often had more volume, softer shoulders and a focus on the waist. Swing coats and coats with princess seams were popular because they worked beautifully over full skirts and dresses.
A cropped bolero or tailored jacket works well with most vintage-inspired dresses because it keeps the waist visible. For dresses with a full skirt, a swing coat is also a beautiful choice.
A vintage-inspired blazer should fit well across the shoulders and ideally define the waist. It can be tailored, but it should not feel tight or pull across the buttons.
Yes. Vintage-inspired jackets work really well in a modern wardrobe. Try a tailored blazer with jeans and a T-shirt, or a cropped jacket with high-waisted trousers for a more subtle retro look.
