1940s Wrap dress
mulburry
Authentic vintage style wrap dress in mulberry from The Seamstress of Bloomsbury.
The Seamstress of Bloomsbury's beautiful wrap dress can be worn for all occasions and is perfect all year round - making it an absolute bestseller
The cut of the dress leaves room for the bust and emphasizes the waist, and the fine lapel collar frames the neck and face beautifully.
The wrap dress is fitted at the waist and has short sleeves, making it easy to wear all year round. The beautiful wrap dress closes easily with the adjustable tie belt, and the lightweight material gives the dress a beautiful drape and a very authentic vintage look!
The material is The Seamstress of Bloomsbury's signature fabric, a natural material that feels soft and breathable!
- Suitable for all occasions: dress it up with a pair of vintage pumps and red lipstick and dress it down with a pair of flats and neutral makeup!
- Wear the wrap dress in winter with thicker tights and a cardigan and in summer with bare legs and sandals.
- It's also the perfect wrap dress for summer beach trips as it's easy to put on and take off and the fabric dries quickly! And it doesn't take up much space in your bag.
Tip: When trying this on, 1. Pull one side 'firmly' across the chest when closing. 2. Tie the ribbon around the waist twice and then tie a bow at the side. This way the collar will sit nicely and the dress will not open.
100% rayon crepe. No stretch.
Rayon crepe is a natural, lightweight and beautiful material, and we recommend that you care for the garment as they did with original 1940s clothing.
We suggest hand washing, just like they did back then. If you want to use the easier option of using a washing machine, it's very important to wash on a gentle cycle and place the garment in a laundry bag. However, we do not recommend washing in a machine as not all machines treat clothes equally well.
Avoid drying clothes in direct sunlight or in very hot places (e.g. over a radiator) as this can cause the material to expand and subsequently shrink.
If the garment has been washed too hot.
In the unlikely event of an accident, you can try the following method to get the garment back to its original size and fit. This method is not guaranteed, but may help in some cases:
- Soak the garment in cold water with a very generous amount of fabric conditioner and leave it overnight.
- Then rinse the garment in fresh cold water and while gently squeezing out the excess water, stretch the garment both width and lengthwise as far as you can.
- Lay the garment flat on a towel to let it dry slowly and keep pulling it in both directions.

Are you unsure about the size, whether the dress suits your body type, or how to style it? Here, we have gathered some of the questions you might have, so you can more easily find the dress that is perfect for you.
Until a few years ago, vintage clothing was considered to be anything from 1920-1979. But in many contexts, generations are used as a guideline, as a generation is approximately 25 years. This aligns well with the current fashion landscape, where many millennials have started embracing the 90s as 'vintage'. Younger than that, and it's referred to as upcycled or second-hand.
At Mondo Kaos, you'll primarily find vintage-inspired dresses, where the style is inspired by earlier decades, mainly the 1940s and 1950s, but the fit, comfort, and materials are created for modern use. All our vintage dresses are newly manufactured.
Our dresses may be inspired by, for example, the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, or 1960s. This can be seen in details such as silhouette, waist, neckline, skirt shape, print, length, or feminine vintage details.
At Mondo Kaos, you'll primarily find vintage-inspired dresses. This means the dresses have a vintage look, inspired by past decades, but are made with modern comfort, fit, and materials, so they can be worn in everyday life today.
Our vintage dress is particularly well-suited for those who desire a feminine silhouette with an emphasis on the waist. Depending on the cut, the dress can be especially flattering for certain specific body types.
