Karantæne hilsen fra Mondo Pigerne ❤️

Quarantine greetings from the Mondo Girls ❤️

From all of us to all of you.

What are you doing here in quarantine? Have you got extra time that needs to be used in a different way than you usually do?

During this time, like so many others, we have a lot of extra time to fill. That is why we have decided to show you what we are doing these days, maybe you can be inspired, or you can tell us what you are doing now that everyday life looks a little different than usual.

Mondo Madness Cake

Here's a greeting from our Cecilie, who spent one of her quarantine days baking a delicious cake!

She is happy to share the recipe with you all:

Cake:
250 g of butter
200 g of sugar
5 egg yolks
250 g flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
150 g grated chocolate
150 g coarsely chopped hazelnuts
Juice of about 2 oranges
Grate the peel of approx. 2 oranges

Glaze:
125 g icing sugar
1/2-1 Juice from an orange
1/2-1 Grated orange peel

Turn on the oven at 170° fan.

Mix butter, egg yolks and sugar together. Add flour mixed with baking powder a little at a time while stirring.

When the dough is stirred in, add chocolate, nuts, orange juice and grated orange peel. Grease a springform pan or other cake pan with butter, then pour the batter in.

Place the cake in the middle of the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes.

When the cake is finished and has cooled down a bit, you can cover it with a glaze mixed with sifted icing sugar, orange juice and orange peel

Enjoy!

Cecilie's home training program

After the cake, you may have more time left, and why not do some home training? Here Cecilie shows her exercises to keep the muscles strong while we are under house arrest. She herself says that it is nice to start the day with a little exercise, it gives a good start and you feel fresh afterwards.

Cecilie likes to train on time, not just to be tightened up, but also to keep her heart rate up throughout.

Each exercise is repeated three times for 30 seconds each, so it's nice to have a stopwatch ready.

Today's workout is mainly for the stomach, with a final exercise for the arms, you know: 'Waving ham'.

The program is made up of 7 exercises, and can be performed almost anywhere:

1) knee squats 3x30 sec

2) inverted v plank 3x30 sec

3) knee to elbow 3x45 sec

4) side plank 3x15 sec

5) reverse crunches 3x30 sec

6) arm/leg raises 3x30 sec

7) bench dips 3x15 sec

You can always adjust the time according to how much you normally train. I have set the time here for someone who does not train regularly, and maybe is a beginner.

Line reads Murakami

At Line, for once there is time to put your feet up and read a good book! Line likes to read, but with full-time studies, assignments, exams and, of course, the job at Mondo Kaos, it can be difficult to find the calm to, with a clear conscience, just set aside time for contemplation. Right now she is reading 'Chronicle of the Woodpecker' by Haruki Murakami.

The novel is a myriad of stories and tales, mystery and reality that weave in and out of each other, but the starting point for the story is the main character Okada, who has quit his job at a law firm. He now looks after home, cat and wife, who is an editor at a publishing house. Suddenly one day the cat disappears without a trace, and shortly after the wife too...
There is silence and sunshine pouring in through the window. That's not the worst.

Line must let us know, the novel was good!

Kirstines about laundry & Film Noir

In Kirstine's home, the quarantine is about rescuing old dresses that just need to be done with, and hand washing the most delicate items. A good tip is transparent washing-up liquid. Leave it on the stubborn stains for a while and then wash - it takes most of it and does not damage the fabric.

When everything is washed it's time for a movie! The obsession at the moment is Film Noir. On Netflix you can e.g. see 'The Stranger' from 1946 with i.a. Orson Welles and Loretta Young. The old films are partly really well written and you can only swoon over the wardrobes and hairstyles!

On filmstripen.dk you will find 'Detour', which is also definitely worth seeing. If you can borrow them from your grandmother or similar, then these are also good entertainment: 'The Maltese Falcon' with Humphrey Bogart or 'The Big Sleep' also with Humphrey Bogart. 'The Lady in the Lake' is also good, and very different as it has subjective camera direction. You just have to get used to it, but it's a fun effect!

Stine's Playlists for the quarantine period

Stine's quarantine greeting comes to you -of course- in musical form. Music is a huge part of Stine's life, both privately and as a DJ.
When Stine is out DJing, it takes place analogue, with old, vintage vinyls from the 60s, and absolutely without the use of computers and playlists.
During the quarantine, Stine focuses on having more time to immerse herself in her records. She finds music she hasn't heard in a long time. She researches and listens to music all day and in that way gets new inspiration for playlists. Here she distributes all her musical wisdom and heart blood to Mondo Kao's customers, so you get two playlists with which you can enjoy yourself or hold a party at home.

Mondo_kaos_playlist_1

Bubblegum and beat

The first playlist is a mix of well-known hits and most songs are from the 50s - there are also a few from the 60s. The second playlist consists primarily of music from the 60s - and here it is much more soul and beat. There are definitely a lot of classics you can sing along to, but also a few unknown but fantastic tunes from that time.

So click in (on the pictures above) and listen to Stine's fantastic playlists!

Have you been inspired? Cake, strength exercises, books, music, old movies... Hopefully, for a short while, you have thought about something other than the news flow of the media.
Of course, we hope that everyone is healthy and well, that you will remain so, and that we will soon be over the worst - together, separately :-)

Loving greetings,

Team Mondo Kaos ♥
