Rhanders Gloves since 1811
Rhanders Handsker is a family-owned Danish company founded in 1811, but already from the Middle Ages monks tanned their leather with willow bark in the Gudenå river. The kalmus plant that grew there gave the leather a sweet, citrusy scent that made the gloves popular.
Kalmus is today a very rare plant, so it is no longer used to tan the skin for Rhander's gloves, but on the other hand, Rhander's Gloves have adopted the flower as their emblem. A small gilded calamus flower can be found on the gloves from Rhanders Handsker.
Rhanders Handsker has a long and royal history. It is said that Marie Antoinette swore by gloves from Randers. Whether it is true is probably difficult to know, but it is true that many other royals, e.g. Princess Dagmar, who became Tsarina of Russia, wore the gloves, just as the royals today also wear gloves from Rhanders Handsker.

In autumn, we start to find all the wonderful accessories, and match them according to desire and need. The beautiful gloves allow you to put it all together for well-coordinated sets in vintage style, which just make even the dullest gray weather day become colorful.
Motorcycle gloves in vintage style.
From Rhanders Gloves we have, among other things, the famous motorcycle gloves. Motor gloves have holes for the knuckles which make it easier to keep control, and a small button across the back of the hand. The gloves give the perfect vintage look, and go well with vintage outfits from the 40s and 50s.
In the cold season, we always have classic motorcycle gloves in many colors, so you can match them with, for example, a vintage-style beret and scarf, or with a coat and handbag.
Leather gloves from Rhanders with lining.
Of course, we also have a selection of the classic finger gloves with lining, and here there is both fleece or wool lining to choose from, depending on what you think is weirdest. The gloves are a little longer than the normal leather glove, which is absolutely perfect for your vintage look, where the sleeves are sometimes a little shorter.
It is clear that we also carry gloves here in many colours, and especially the classics red, black and mustard.
Style your vintage gloves
Think in sets, so that there is always one color that repeats itself, so you get a really nice, uniform look, as it used to be in the past.
If, on the other hand, you have everything in just one color, you can consider one contrasting color, which can be suitable for gloves and alpine hat. If, for example, your coat, boots and hat are black or navy, it is super nice to style with a strong contrast, such as red or mustard.
You must of course choose according to what you will use your gloves for and what you will use them with. The red gloves are an obvious choice if you want to wear them with your red beret from Diefenthal, or nice red shoes or boots. The beautiful gloves with buttons or with a wrinkle effect are an obvious choice for a complete vintage look with a princess coat and swing skirt.
The cool classic motorcycle gloves are perfect for a sweater girl or rockabilly look. Jump in vintage style denim, high heels and the beautiful motorcycle gloves in a complementary color.
Leather – a sustainable product
In addition to being made of the thin, soft and highly stretchable leather, in classic designs, Rhanders Gloves are also made with consideration for the environment and nature. The skin is exclusively a by-product of the food industry, i.e. no animals are raised for the sake of the skin.
The leather is tanned in factories that prevent harmful substances from coming into contact with the environment or people. Textiles used for the gloves are organic and sustainable, and some of them spun in Denmark.
Leather is also super sustainable as it is very durable when you take good care of it, and can break down naturally. In fact, there is currently no good vegan alternative to leather. So-called vegan leather is plastic, made from fossil fuels, and takes thousands of years to break down in nature. So leather, when it is made from a by-product like here, and you take good care of it, is a really good and durable choice for both shoes and gloves.
How do I find my glove size?
Find your glove size quite simply by measuring the circumference of your palm (i.e. without the thumb) and dividing by 2.7. The number is your size. Remember that a glove must fit at the start as the finely processed leather stretches and lends itself to fit your hand perfectly.
How do I care for my gloves?
First of all, the gloves are made so that they do not need to be polished or oiled, on the contrary, they just need to be wiped off with a cotton cloth once in a while. Make it a habit to stretch your gloves after each use. Stretch the entire glove first, then each finger. Store the gloves flat.
In addition, Rhanders Handsker has a unique care and repair service, where you can have a loose seam sewn up, a new one inserted, or even buy a single glove if you have lost one of your pair. In this way, a new pair of gloves is a very good and sustainable choice.
Which gloves should I choose?
We take home the most beautiful gloves, in both strong and neutral colours. The gloves come in three different types of lining, unlined and silk lined for the chilly days and wool and fleece for the winter cold. And then they always come in beautiful colours, eg mustard, pink, army, champagne, and of course we always have black gloves.
