Retrospec'd is an Australian brand created from the love of vintage dresses and the elegant feminine vintage style. It is the two sisters Sharon Hanley and Teena Borg who together have created the universe that is Retrospec'd.
At Retrospec'd, the dresses are top of mind, and they are designed with inspiration from the sisters' own huge vintage wardrobe, consisting of dresses from the 1940s and 1950s . The clothes should have the same feel as their vintage dresses; be feminine with an emphasis on quality, cut, print and fit.
The idea behind the brand is that all women should be able to find a fantastic dress, which with a unique cut, design and print can make you feel fabulous, regardless of age and size!
Retrospec'd creates designs with the aim of creating silhouettes with vintage flair, and with the most beautiful patterns and colors, and therefore many of their unique vintage style prints are also designed by Retrospec'd themselves. Like the fact that their clothes are made and produced in Australia.

Retrospec'd and vintage novelty print
The unique in-house designed prints for Retrospec'd dresses are often in the novelty style. The novelty style was especially popular in the period after 1945 and had its heyday in the 1950s . The large swing dresses with lots of fabric were the obvious 'canvas' for the beautiful and unique prints.
A novelty pattern is a print with a theme. It can for example be a party, music or animals or it can represent landscapes such as beaches, cities, islands or mountains. This is a dress inspired by Dior's New Look from 1947. It is characterized by a fitted and form-fitting top and a skirt with lots of extra width, ideal for wearing with a petticoat underneath. It is a super beautiful and classic dress that every vintage lover should have. Perfect for creating a true vintage look, and an extremely comfortable dress, especially in summer.
