The A-line skirt is both comfortable and very dressy. The A-line skirt is flattering for both women with large curves and for narrower types. The skirt is not typically the most festive of our vintage-style skirts , where you typically prefer the pencil skirt or the swing skirt , on the other hand, it is ideal as an everyday skirt, where you will always feel comfortable. We always have beautiful vintage style A-line skirts in sizes from small, medium and large to plus-size.
An A-line skirt sits, like all our skirts, to the waist, and creeps in to the upper part of the hips, where after it goes out in a trapezoid shape, or A-line, without extra fabric.
The classic vintage style A-line skirt
The A-line skirt in the cut we know today was first seen in the 1940s, when the A-line cut was practical and suited the fashion silhouette of the time. During the war years, the silhouette was completely simple, and due to rationing even without pockets or other decorations. After being out of fashion in the 50s, the A-line shape made a strong comeback and was fashionable in many different guises in both the 1960s and 1970s.
All our retro and vintage style skirts , including those in A-line, are of course high-waisted and fitted to the waist. So you get the classic hourglass silhouette regardless of which skirt you choose at Mondo Kaos. With the A-line model, there is typically just a little more focus on the upper part.
WE of course have the classic A-line skirt that goes to about the knee, but in addition we have a beautiful mini skirt, inspired by the fashion of the 1960s. With its A-line, our mini skirt is really very flattering and can be worn by all women, e.g. with a pair of nice boots.
A-line skirt for any season
The A-line skirt can of course be used all year round, depending on the material. We have A-line skirts from The Seamstress of Bloomsbury in their light signature crepe de chine perfect for the warmer months. But we also get A-line skirts in the slightly heavier and warmer fabrics for the cooler months.
As we only take home a few of each style, and have a large turnover in our range, this means that our selection of vintage style skirts also changes with the season. In the summer you will therefore mostly find the light models, perhaps in bright colors and floral prints, and in the autumn and winter the warmer models. It also means that you can visit the store/webshop often, as we get new items regularly, and your favorite A-line skirt may turn up if you didn't find it the first time.
